Chili... Chili and MORE Chili!

Updat on the chili fundraiser... much easier than mass producing mittens and almost as profitable!
What a busy hayride that was! O man...
It was a great weekend for a fundraiser at CTR. Saturday night service yielded a great profit and Sunday had 2 services and membership meeting... which... AHEM Where were all the members? It was so cool to serve food to the body of Christ. It is the closest thing to a Church potluck we ever witness at CTR since our member tally is so large... all in all we cooked 40 lbs of ground meat... and used 4/ 40 ounce cans of tomato sauce and crushed tomato... and 15 cans of each kidney/black and light red kidney beans... SERiousLY! 5 nescos later of chili and 12 lbs of noodles... cause Wisconsin people put noodles in their chili (dont ask) over 60 ounces of sour cream and 10 lbs of shredded cheddar cheese....we had less than a gumbo pot of chili left over! Yes that is an actual cajun measurement... a gumbo pot.
Listen here.. for a moment I want to take the book of Hebrews out for an opportunity to remind you all including myself that we are in the midst of a war. often one that cannot be seen but most certainly can be felt. Division of community and relationships and destruction of the family unit... husbands and wives and children. These are the targets... just to name a few. My family is of no exception and fighting the battle with toothpicks and hankerchiefs sure wont do the job. We need armor... heavy stuff... stuff that warriors carry. Its not about making sure you have it on.... its being certain you never take it off! I am reminding you of the battle so you wont be consumed by the flames. 5 alarm chili and flames. Its what we are up against and the more we take a stand for whats right the more the enemy wants to devour us. It takes me too long to realize this is the enemy I fight. Not my husband or my children or my friends family and community... its imperative to know the focus of a war.... at least we know how this ends right? Victory!
It was in Chili and the heat of the spices that I had to learn a valueable lesson... the cost of the flames.
